User Settings
Your own settings live in one place in the Rescale web UI, under two different names depending on which interface you are in:
Both open the same settings. Several tasks documented elsewhere start here, so this page is the map of what each tab does and where the detail lives.
These are your settings. Anything that applies to other people, such as a workspace budget or an organization security policy, is in the admin portal instead. See Administering Rescale.
Which workspace you are in
Your Rescale account belongs to an organization, and inside it you work in a workspace. A workspace carries its own members, policies, software and hardware portfolio, and billing, so two workspaces can legitimately show you different software, different hardware and different limits.
That makes "which workspace am I in" a better first question than "does my account have access" when something you expect is missing.
Two separate things control this:
Switch the workspace you are working in
The workspace name sits at the top of the left sidebar. Clicking the name opens that workspace's folders; clicking the switch icon beside it opens the workspace list.
Each entry shows the workspace's ID, which is the value you need when sharing across workspaces. The search box is there because the list is only as short as your membership.
Switch workspace in an admin portal
The admin portals have their own switcher, in the top right, and it is independent of the sidebar one. Switching in a portal does not change the workspace you are working in, and switching in the sidebar does not move you between portals.
Two things in that menu are worth knowing. Each row names the role you hold in that workspace, so a workspace where you are not an administrator is visibly different from one where you are. And the list is not necessarily complete: More Workspaces opens the full set.
This menu is also the way into User Profile Settings, which is everything below.
For what differs between the organization portal and a workspace portal, see what lives in which portal.
What each tab does
API keys
Nearly every programmatic path into Rescale starts with a key from the API tab: the REST API, the CLI, the MCP Server, and creating AI datasets and models in AI Physics.
A key inherits your permissions, so treat it as a credential that can do anything you can do. Delete keys you are no longer using rather than leaving them live.
Notifications
Rescale emails you about events on your own work, and each type can be switched off individually under Notifications. One example documented in detail is the workstation connectivity warning, which only the workstation's owner receives; see Workstation recovery.
Spend notifications on a budget are configured with the budget rather than here. See Spend notifications.
Access restrictions
Job Settings holds the Access Restriction (CIDR) field, which limits the addresses that
can reach your jobs and workstations. Rules are comma-separated CIDR blocks, for example
x.x.x.x/32,y.y.y.y/32, and the setting applies to both. If you cannot connect to a
workstation you just launched, this is the first thing to check. See
Connect to a workstation.
An organization-wide equivalent is set by admins, not here. See Access restrictions.
