Share a workstation
Sharing gives a colleague access to your running session: the same desktop, not a copy. Use it to review results together or to get help with a model without exporting anything.
Share it
Use the Share icon on the Workstations page.
Add people and choose what they get:
Three permissions, granted independently:
What shared users cannot do
Suspend or resume, even with connect access. That control stays with you, so a collaborator can't suspend a session while you're relying on it. See suspend and resume.
The share panel handles one workstation. To share a set of them, put them in a Workspace Folder and share the folder instead.
Revoke access
Click the X next to the person. To change what someone has, revoke and re-share with the permissions you want: permissions aren't edited in place.
Anyone connected over the remote-display protocol has their session terminated abruptly when the workstation is rebooted or reprovisioned. No warning is sent. Tell collaborators before you do it: see recovery.
Sharing internally
Sharing with Rescale staff isn't available, except with Rescale Support, which is how you grant Support access when troubleshooting.
Can a recipient change attachments?
Yes, but two conditions must both hold:
- The workstation was shared with full access.
- You (the owner) have read access to the attachment.
The second is easy to miss: the service that transfers attachments authenticates as the owner, not as the person making the change. So a colleague can't attach a file you can't read yourself.
Full access can't be granted from the share dialog. It happens only when a workstation is auto-shared with workspace admins, auto-shared as part of a project, or reassigned during user offboarding.
