Monitor storage and transfer usage

how-to · Reviewed 2026-07-31 GA

The Storage and Data Transfer Usage table breaks consumption down by user. Use it to identify who is consuming storage before a limit begins deleting files.

Where to look

Per-user storage and transfer totalsStorage / Transfer Limits page
Per-job storageJobs list Storage column
Per-user CFS consumptionAdmin portal → Activity → Cloud Filesystems
What you'll be billedBilling reports

How current the numbers are

The usage table refreshes at least once per hour. A Last Updated on timestamp sits above the table: check it before drawing conclusions.

This used to be much slower

Before July 2025 these figures lagged by one to two days, which made them nearly useless for reacting to a limit. If you remember them as stale, they aren't any more.

The same figures are available through the platform APIs.

Finding the heavy users

The table sorts across all pages, not just the visible one. Sort by storage descending to find the top consumers.

Use the Show deactivated users toggle to catch storage still held by people who have left. A common source of unexplained usage. See offboarding for handling their data properly.

Exporting

Download CSV exports the current usage snapshot. Use it for month-over-month tracking or to share with whoever owns the budget.
