Sharing
Sharing lets you give teammates, collaborators, and Rescale Support access to the jobs and files you own. When you share a job, the recipient can view the job setup, open the running job over SSH, and download every input and output file attached to it. This page covers how to share jobs with other users, how to share with Rescale Support, and how to revoke access when collaboration is finished.
What gets shared
When you share a job, the recipient receives access to the full job context:
- The job setup, including software, hardware, and input variables.
- All input files attached to the job.
- All output files produced by the job, once it finishes.
- The ability to SSH into the running job for real-time insight.
Sharing does not transfer ownership. You remain the job owner, you continue to be billed for the job, and you keep the ability to modify or revoke the share at any time.
Sharing a job with a teammate
You can open the share dialog from either the Jobs list or an individual job page.
- Go to the Jobs list on your Rescale platform.
- Find the job you want to share and click the Share button in its row. If you have the job page already open, click Share in the job header instead.
- In the share dialog, enter the recipient's email address.
- Add an optional short message so the recipient knows why you are sharing the job.
- Click Share.
The recipient receives an email with a link to the shared job. From that link they can review the setup, open the running job over SSH, or download outputs once the job completes.
If the email you enter does not belong to an existing Rescale user, the dialog shows an error. An invitation request is sent automatically to your workspace and organization administrators. After an administrator adds the new user, you can share the job with them.
Sharing more than one thing
Every share panel on the platform works on a single object. When you need to hand over a set of work, put it in a Workspace Folder and share the folder: recipients get everything inside, including anything added later, at Viewer or Editor permission.
Sharing files
Jobs are the primary unit of sharing on Rescale. Any file attached to a job, input decks, geometry files, logs, results, post-processing archives, is shared with the recipient when you share the job. If you need to hand a colleague a specific file, attach it to a job (or create a small placeholder job for transfer) and share that job.
For teams that need a persistent shared area across many jobs, mount a shared filesystem so collaborators read and write the same dataset without re-uploading. Two options: Cloud Filesystem (CFS) shares workspace-wide through Rescale Projects with higher throughput, while an HPS storage device is shared per device and adds SSH and SFTP access.
For auto-sharing patterns (for example, making every job a teammate launches visible to the whole team), use Projects to gate a workspace so jobs land with a shared audience by default.
If the data already lives in S3, Azure Blob, or SharePoint, a data connector may be a better answer than copying it onto Rescale at all.
Sharing a job with Rescale Support
Rescale Support does not have access to your jobs or files by default. To let a support engineer debug a specific job, share it with Support explicitly:
- Open the share dialog for the job.
- Select the Support tab.
- Check the Rescale Support box.
- If a specific engineer asked for your job, add their name and a short description of the issue in the message field.
- Click Share.
After the support request is resolved, un-share the job so Support no longer has access. This keeps your data exposure tight and is a good habit for every shared ticket.

Revoking access
You can revoke shared access to a job at any time from the Jobs list.
- Open the Jobs list.
- In the Shared column for the job, click the shared-user icon.
- In the shared-user list, click the X next to any user whose access you want to remove.
- Click Apply to return to the Jobs list.
To revoke access for Rescale Support, open the share dialog, go to the Share with Support tab, and clear the Rescale Support checkbox.
Revoking access takes effect immediately. The revoked user loses the ability to view the job, download its files, or SSH into it on their next page load.
