Browsing the Catalog
The Rescale software catalog lists every application your workspace can run, along with supported versions, licensing options, and hardware compatibility. Use the catalog when you create a new job to pick the exact solver, version, and license configuration for the run. This page explains how to find the software you need and how administrators can narrow the catalog to a curated set for their users.
Finding software in the catalog
You reach the catalog from the job setup flow. In the Rescale web UI, start a new job or workstation and open the Software step. The catalog opens with every tile your workspace has access to, grouped by vendor and industry category. You can:
- Search by name in the top bar (for example,
fluent,star-ccm,abaqus). - Filter by vendor, industry (CFD, FEA, EDA, structural, chemistry, AI/ML), license model, and whether the tile runs as a batch job or on a workstation.
- Open a tile to see available versions, the default launch command, and any required license fields.
Each tile shows the command Rescale will run by default. You can edit that command after selecting the tile, which is useful for adding flags, journal files, or wrapper scripts specific to your simulation.
Creating a software filter
Administrators can narrow the catalog so that users only see an approved subset of applications. Software filters are defined at the workspace or organization level and apply to every user covered by that scope. Common reasons to use a filter include:
- Restricting users to licensed solvers your organization already pays for.
- Hiding deprecated versions while you migrate to a newer release.
- Scoping a workspace to a specific discipline, for example EDA-only or CFD-only.
To create a filter, go to the admin portal, open the Software Filters page, and select the applications and versions the filter should expose. Save the filter and assign it to the workspaces or groups you want it to apply to. Users in those scopes see only the filtered list when they open the catalog during job creation.
