Administering Rescale
Administering Rescale happens in a separate interface from the one you run jobs in, and the controls are spread across most of this documentation rather than gathered in one section. This page is the map: what an administrator can set, and where each thing is written up.
Looking for which of the two admin portals holds a particular screen? What lives in which portal lists both admin navs side by side, menu by menu.
Getting there, and who can
Hover your email at the bottom of the left sidebar, then choose Admin. You will see the organization portal plus one portal per workspace you administer.
There are two administrator roles:
- Organization admin, with administrative access across the organization and every workspace.
- Workspace admin, with administrative access to one workspace.
Only organization admins can grant either role. See organizations & workspaces for the hierarchy, creating workspaces, and delegating administration.
The redesigned sidebar covers the user-facing platform. Both admin portals remain on the earlier top-nav layout. This is expected, not a stale page.
Structure and people
What members are allowed to do
Two different mechanisms, easy to confuse, and both per workspace.
Spend and billing
What is running, and what happened
Activity is the one place in the platform where an administrator sees other members' work. Everywhere else a member sees only their own.
Resources you set up once
Connectors and the licensing integrations are organization-level only. A workspace admin cannot add or change them.
Administering by asking
The Edison for administrators answers questions about spend, usage and activity in natural language, from inside the admin portal, so a question that would otherwise mean visiting several pages can be asked directly. An organization admin can ask across every workspace; a workspace admin gets their own workspace's scope.
Not in the admin portal
Your own API keys, notification preferences and personal settings are yours rather than the organization's, and they live in User Settings instead. The reverse is also true: anything that applies to somebody else, such as a budget or a security policy, is in the admin portal.
