Comments
Job comments are Rescale's built-in, thread-style collaboration layer. You use them to capture context on a run, ask a teammate a question, record findings without leaving the job page, and preserve a searchable history that sticks to the job forever. Comments support markdown, @-mentions, cross-job links, threaded replies, and pinning, so they work equally well for quick notes and for longer review discussions.
Posting a comment
You can post a comment from two places: the job's Comments section, or the job home page.
From the Comments section:
- Open the job and scroll to the Comments section.
- Type your comment in the input box. Markdown and plain text are both supported, so you can include headings, lists, code fences, and links.
- Click Comment to publish.
From the job home page:
- Find the job on the home page and locate the Comments column.
- Click the + icon to open the comment input field.
- Type your comment and publish.
Once posted, a comment is permanently attached to the job. You can delete your own comments, but you cannot edit or delete comments created by other collaborators.
Mentioning teammates
To direct a comment at a specific teammate, mention them by typing @ followed by their name or email, then pick the right user from the dropdown. Mentioned users receive an email notification with a direct link back to the comment.
Mentions only work for users who already have access to the job. If you mention someone who is not a collaborator, the comment box shows an error. Click the error to jump to the Share Job settings and grant access before resending the mention. See Sharing for how access works.
Linking to other jobs
To reference another job inside a comment, type # and start typing the job's name. A dropdown appears with matching jobs. Pick the one you want and the comment shows a clickable link. Linked jobs are useful for connecting a failed run to the rerun, pointing reviewers at a reference baseline, or tracking a study across multiple submissions.
Pinning important comments
Any comment can be pinned to the top of the thread. Click the pin icon in the upper right corner of a comment to pin it. Pinned comments are highlighted in yellow and float to the top of the Comments section, which makes them useful for run summaries, known-issue callouts, and post-mortem conclusions that you want to stay visible.
Replying and threading
To reply directly to an existing comment, click Reply on that comment. Your reply becomes part of a thread under the parent comment. Threaded replies keep focused discussions together instead of spreading them across the whole Comments feed.
Viewing comment history
The job home page surfaces the most recent comment in the Comments column so you can scan activity without opening every job. Click the + icon next to the last comment to expand the full history for that job.
FAQ
Can I edit or delete a comment someone else posted? No. Comments can only be edited or deleted by the collaborator who created them.
Do comments stay with the job if I share it? Yes. Comments are attached to the job, so every collaborator with access to the job sees the full comment history and can post their own.
Do comments notify everyone on the job? Only users you explicitly @-mention receive email notifications. Other collaborators see new comments when they open the job.
