Templates

how-to · Reviewed 2026-07-30 · FEAT-0035 GA

A template captures hardware, software, license settings, and general input files, so launching a familiar setup skips the whole configuration flow. Templates work for both workstations and jobs.

Launch from a template

Templates appear below the create section, each showing its name, software, and hardware. Select Create from Template, or search if you have many.

Classic UITemplates you own and templates shared with you both appear here.

The gallery is sorted by most recently used. View All Templates shows the full set.

Save a workstation as a template

From the workstation, open the Save dropdown and choose Save as Template. Give it a name and a short description.

Classic UI

Before saving, make sure the hardware configuration is set, coretype, cores, walltime. For templates you'll also use for jobs, include at least one software selection.

To build a template from an existing workstation without disturbing it: duplicate the workstation, rename the copy, then save that as a template.

Manage templates

Hover the top right of a template card for its actions: pin, edit, archive:

Only the owner can edit a template

A template shared with you can be launched but not modified. To change it, duplicate a workstation created from it and save your own template.

Admin restrictions

Workspace admins can restrict who may create templates, or require that users launch workstations only from approved templates. If you can't create one. That's likely why. See Administration.
